The forecast this week is 10 straight days of rain..
and you know what? I'm not sad! Not even a little!
and you know what? I'm not sad! Not even a little!
I mean sure... the entire month of march has probably had 2 sunny days and I could desperately use a sun tan but honestly... I love the rain!
I was never a "rain, rain, go away" kind of girl. I was the "Singing in the Rain" girl!
I have fond memories of coming home from school on a rainy day to the smell of chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven! I was a fan of indoor recess because that meant we got to gather in the multi-purpose room and watch Disney movies and the teachers would make popcorn!! I mean seriously maybe I was a weird kid but that SO beat running around and sweating! I love the rain!
so lets look on the bright side people!! Maybe finding the positive will make you like the rain a little more!! Here are my favorite things to do when its raining!! :
- Watch rainy day movies! Yes, in my house this is a genre.. (ex. Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, scary movies like the shining or the skeleton key, 101 Dalmatians, Beauty and the Beast)
- Fall asleep to sound of rain on the roof! (so relaxing!)
- Sit by the fire (Nothing says cozy like a fireplace)
- Eat soup! (Rainy days call for soup!)
- Do a puzzle (I forgot how fun those are!)
- Play cards (any game!)
- Make hot chocolate!
- Use the cute umbrella you forget you have! (Come on you know its fun!)
And my favorite
- Snuggle up with significant other (in my case Aaron)Hope this put a new light on stormy days.. What are your favorite rainy day things?
I bake, which in turn leads to eating, which in turn leads to why I gain weight in the winter! Me, I am a sunshine girl. I could easily live in Hawaii....temperate, warm, sunshine and you can't forget the beach!
ReplyDeleteOk! I really have to think, cuz I could live in Hawaii too!! But I do agree that rainy day movies, fireplaces and warm soup are just the ticket to surviving winter and like Melinda, I would love to be baking right now, but then I would have to eat and then I would gain weight! No good! :( Love you Molly!!! :)P.S. I really can't remember the last time my whole body was the same color, I need sunshine!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the rain too, even though I've been complaining about it lately. There is something nice about being cozy at home while it storms outside.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite raining day activites are changing diapers, cleaning up toys, laundry, 6th grade homework... oh wait, that is what I do everyday!!
Okay, if I didn't have little people to care for, I'd watch the Glee episode on my DVR, warm under a blankie, and eat potato soup!
Well I agree with all of the activities except one of the movies you put down is definitely not a movie to watch on rainy days!!! :))) And my favorite activities in the rain are to become my alternate personality (Zeke) and cause mischief around school, watch netflix, and be with you!!!! :)))
ReplyDeleteYou always find the good in everything...even the rain :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the rain too - and my favorite rainy day activity is to putter and clean. Maybe just the junk drawer or maybe an entire closet...guess it depends on the size of the rain storm ;o)
I hope you get to enjoy everything on your list!!
I guess I'll be the downer here. I too could live in Hawaii and don't care if I ever see rain again. Oh, wait, when it rains in Hawaii it is still warm. So it's all good.
ReplyDeleteMolly the lemons into lemonade girl that I know and love!!! :) I love the rain too IF I can be cozied up in a spotless house with no where to go! Eating yummy food, watching movies, and reading! Definitely NOT doing a puzzle. I really am not a puzzle girl. :)
ReplyDeleteYesterday, the rain was not my friend because I had to run all over town in it for hours on end! Our forecast is calling for Spring-like temps all next week and I couldn't be happier! :) Oh but I can so relate to the rainy day recess festivities! I loved that too!!!
I too love the rain. We definately don't have enough of it around here. My favorite rainy activities would watching movies-the long ones (Braveheart, Gone With the Wind, Little Women, etc.); baking; reading a book in my recliner while listening to the rain hit the roof. Enjoy the weather!
ReplyDeleteHi Molly, thanks for telling me about your blog! I always loved the rain, that is until I had children. It is no fun being cooped up inside all day. Just as it is no fun going out and buckling little ones in carseats as your back and hair get soaked. I do not own a cute pair of rain boots or an umbrella...so pathetic...I'm going to change that! I do however love having you cut my kiddo's hair while it's raining(you did an amazing job, I didn't think they could get any cuter)! I also love keeping the tradition my mom started of baking cookies(or anything warm and gooey)on the first day of rain each rainy day season. I also love a fire in the fireplace and snuggling with my loved one's in warm blankets while reading any good book. You are the most positive person I know, don't ever change!
